Soleil considered this a good day. After a relatively peaceful walk around town, followed by a surprisingly welcoming friend who more than agreed to let her crash at his place for a few days, she had managed to flirt her way in to a nice, cool, dark bar and snatch herself a whole bottle of what-have-you while the bartender was looking the other way. Vodka. She bit her lip as the liquid burned down her throat, leaving a satisfying tingle in its wake. The label was printed directly onto the clear bottle in silver ink and she found her slender fingers tracing the letters as she sat slouched in a rather inconspicuous booth at the far end of the room. In the dim light she had to squint her green eyes to make out the lettering. Not exactly her drink of choice, but beggars can't be choosers and all that. Sol quietly set the bottle on the table and scooted up, crossing her legs Indian style, the short hem of her black dress riding dangerously high on her thighs.

This was why she disliked alcohol. In the darkness that spread over the room like a blanket she found her mind drifting, her thoughts sedated but deep, and she didn't like to think. Because thinking inevitably led to the question, "What next?" and she really had no answer for that yet. Sol paused mid-inner-monologue to take another swig from the three-quarters empty bottle, then picked up where she'd left off. She'd get out of Oxford eventually. There was no way in hell she would let this city eat her alive. Suddenly her pockets felt maddeningly light. Another gulp, larger than the last, a wince as the alcohol pierced her stomach. "Fuck," she said aloud, and someone from the opposite table looked up; Sol hardly noticed, her gaze fixed again on the label, her fingertips tracing the letters a third time. Back where she'd started. There was something binding about this city, and whether Wonderland and the White Rabbit had anything to do with it, she couldn't be sure. Looking up again, she fixed her eyes on the door, as if expecting someone to walk in. She could feel herself relaxing despite her alertness, and her shoulders sagging, she rested her head on the cool table, sighing as it made contact with her burning cheek.

So what if she wasn't legally old enough to smoke? Who was going to be stopping her? No one that's who. She had already met the owner of the hookah bar and she doubted that he would mind her coming in. Today she was feeling like doing new things, coming to the hookah bar just happened to be one of those new things. Her eyes looked at the door for a few minutes before she even decided to let herself in. The difference wasn't too bad from the outside to the inside. Though the sun was still lingering in the sky so it was a slightly brighter outside. She had to still squint her eyes to find her way around the place. Lucy took small steps toward the back of the room. She took a seat on one of the pillows not even noticing the other across from her.

She was only slightly high from the bowl she had smoked a few hours ago. So Lucy only took a minute before realizing the girl. She wasn't going to move because she was in a rather friendly mood today. A large grin spread across her face when she saw her. "'Ello, love. Would you mind sparing me a drink?" she asked, noticing the thin shape of a bottle in the girl's hand. Her words felt like they were floating out of her mouth twisting with some sort of knowledge and sincerity. Currently she didn't sound like she was young and she doubted her figure even appeared young. It was so dark in the place anyway. She vrushed some hair out of her face trying to get a better look at the blond.

It took Soleil a few seconds to register that someone had sat down across from her. She lifted her head from the table, feeling her warm breath as it rebounded against the surface. It smelled of vodka, and she swallowed as if she could wash the evidence away. Without thinking, she held the bottle out, though the figure of the girl looked suspiciously young to her. Who was she to judge, though? She had pulled the same thing as a "minor" after all. Besides, she was becoming a bit skeptical about whether or not she wanted to finish off the bottle herself. Did it count if you shared with someone? Her mind whirred, creating a few scenarios in which she was absolved of her guilt. All seemed rather fantastic. Which reminded her, she had company, and felt compelled to say something to her. Thanks to her demeanor, it wasn't often she had company outside of a bedroom. "It's all yours, hon," she said, her voice low and rich with a slight buzz. She could hold her liquor well, a trait she had earned through much practice. "What did you say your name was again?"

Leaning forward with her elbows balanced awkwardly on the table, she bit her lip, attempting to adjust her eyes to the lighting to get a better glimpse of her. She had dark messy hair and a pale face that stood out in the gloom, but apart from the obvious, nothing called much attention to her features. Satisfied, Sol slid back in her chair, running her fingers through her mess of blond hair and smiling timidly. She reached up and pulled her dress up a bit, as it had begun to slide down her chest rather indecently, and leaned her head back, waiting for the girl's response, though not feeling particularly rushed.

Lucy was not the impatient kind, so waiting for the bottle was no big deal. She notice that the other didn't even ask her her age, she didn't even seem the suspicious either. Carefully she took the bottle and nodded her thanks even if it was too dim to be seen. She put the bottle to her lips before taking a swig that would probably be two straight shots if in glasses. Lucy wasn't a heavy drinker but she could sure hold back her liqour. The alcohol was sure to burn down her throat then leave a numb feeling in the back of her throat. She wished she had something to drink so she wash the after taste out of her mouth but she wasn't going to complain. "Thank you," she said. Audibly saying her thanks seemed much more polite.

"I didn't say my name before but if I did and you wanted me to repeat it I would say Lucy," her words were going to a made up tune. "May I ask yours?" Okay so maybe she was a little more high than she had once thought. It was alright with her she actually liked it better this way. She lowered her eyes with content. Currently she was showing more of her normal, well known Wonderlander qualities. She felt her body sway though she was actualy not moving very much. "Your dress seems to not want to stay on," she giggled. Some people could make that seem like a bad thing but she was just sort of childish.

Sol scooted to the edge of the seat, watching as the girl downed the remnants of the bottle. Grinning, she let out an impressed whistle and giggled at her own antics. "No problem, babe, I never finish a whole bottle on my own. Drinking's not really my 'thing', you know?" She spoke with a slight New York accent that popped up every now and again from her three or four years in the city, and she had to suppress a cringe. She'd never been very fond of the blasé, blunt way people talked around those parts, but what could you do? With Soleil's eyes adjusting to the light, she could make out the girl's figure a little better; her face was, not only pale, but thin and rather tired looking, but there was a sort of sparkle around her that suggested it took a lot to wear her out. That's what a lot of the faces looked like around here. She considered momentarily asking her if she had anything to do with Wonderland, but felt it wasn't really appropriate, and not entirely safe. Anyone could over-hear a conversation like that in this place.

"Lucy, huh?" she responded, trying to mentally attach the name to the girl's face. Honestly, Sol was horrible with names, especially when she was buzzed. "Like the Peanuts girl," she added, for her own benefit. "Ok. And yeah, I'm... Sol. Soleil, but call me Sol please. Makes me sound like some French bitch." Her voice had finally given up its tinge of Brooklyn and lowered, as if to match the dim lighting. It was only appropriate, after all. Sol glanced down at herself for a moment as if just realizing her predicament; it had become habit to adjust the thing, and she just shrugged. "It's gotta be too small for me by now," she murmured, just audible enough for Lucy to hear, but the thing was obviously a bit big on her. Sol's lacking in curves made just about everything hang rather distastefully from her body. "So," she said finally, looking up and meeting the girl's dark eyes as best she could. "You gonna tell me how old you are, Luce? I think I deserve to know if I just committed a felony." She winked.

Her cheeks turned red in slight embarrassment. The alcohol was also starting to run through her body, making her feel warm. That was often the effect drinking had on her. “Actually I do. Drinking is not really my thing, I prefer the life of drugs,” she nodded. Lucy was not the one to hold back things and if you knew her for more than ten minutes you would know that. She didn’t really believe in holding back secrets, unless she was of course talking to the authorities. Now was a time when she knew that she didn’t have to hold something back. The girl barely appeared to have a hold of her self, so she doubted she was an investigator or cop. Investigators were always so pulled together, even when they were pretending not to be.

“Sol, huh?” she said, trying to impersonate the girl. It really didn’t work out to well because she broke character to laugh. “Like something in your shoe.” She touched her foot, feeling the worn down rubber of her chucks. Lucy took another gulp, regretting it as soon as it went down. She put her elbows onto the table and rested her head in her hands. A crooked grin was slapped onto her face. As Sol talked to her, she went of into her own dreamland of static. The other’s words had no importance to her. Her attention was drawn back at the mention of age. Lucy was suddenly unsure of whether or not to actually tell her her real age. “Seventeen,” she answered truthfully, Lucy didn’t like to lie much.

In the dim lighting of the bar Soleil did not notice the slight blush that colored Lucy's cheeks, but she could just about see her squirm slightly in embarrassment. She held back any comments, trying not appear as strung-out as she normally was. The vodka really was helping her relax, but she couldn't help but feel a bit forced in this place. At Lucy's next comment she quirked a brow in an almost accusatory way, but said nothing in return. It wasn't quite a lie if she didn't ask, and anyway, Soleil didn't feel comfortable telling anyone and everyone about her issues with cocaine. It wasn't an everyday thing she told most people, though it would be a helpful explanation for her insanity. Maybe she was just sub-consciously punishing herself. "Is that so?" she asked, as if she didn't want to know anymore. And she didn't.

"Or your spirit," she amended, laughing slightly as she defended her name. "I gave you a cute analogy, and you give me the stinky part of a show? Thanks." Her tone was dripping with a playful sarcasm, and the light-hearted banter eased the rest of her worries so that she could, for the first time, fully relax in Lucy's presence. "Shit, I'm so fucking tired," she murmured into her arms as Lucy debated whether or not to tell her her age. Sol had pin-pointed about nineteen, and although seventeen was a bit of a shell-shock, she wrote it off to the inconvenient lighting and lifted her head from it's resting place on her crossed arms. "Well, as long as you don't turn me in, hon, your secret is safe with me, for the most part." She smiled slightly, then stood, stretching her worn out limbs and getting a satisfying 'pop' in response. "D'you wanna get out of here? At least outside or something. I need some fresh air."

Obviously the girl wanted to kind of drop the subject and Lucy was perfectly fine with that. Maybe she was just a little too honest with people but she could give a crap. Most people didn't give a care what she did with her life. A prime example of these people were her parents. They were much to distracted by their much more talented kids, she was just a normal girl. A shiver was sent up her spine just thinking about it. Alcohol and deep thinking did not mix with her, afterall it was a depressant. Lucy took a swig, taking out a good part of the bottle. She set it down and pushed it towards Sol. Getting completely drunk wasn't something she really was planning on today. A nice buzz might be nice and the girl did know her limits. The vodka was already in her bloodstream making her unusually hot.

"True, but my shoe is quite lovely," she nodded reassuringly. "Plus, Lucy from Peanuts was a bitchy ho." A light laugh escaped her, she was just having a little fun. She ran a hand through her, then moved her bangs from her face. She was in need of a haircut from her mother soon. Lucy didn't really like getting her haircut, the reason she had such long hair, but she knew when it was time to get her bangs trimmed. As much as she disliked her mother, she was the only one who Lucy trusted to cut her bangs. That was basically the only true joy she got from her parents. They did have their moments though, especially now that she was being nicer to them. She looked at Soleil who was standing now. "Okay," she shrugged, getting up too. "It's starting to feel like death in here." Lucy was referring to the heat when she said that is felt like 'death'. She was never a fan of hot weather, unless there was water nearby.

Soleil took the near empty bottle and downed the last few sips almost without thinking as Lucy seemed to gain a faraway look, as if she were thinking hard about something. Grasping the edge of the table for a little support, she looked at the girl and playfully waved a hand. "Don't think about it while drunk, it only makes it worse. Trust me." Though Sol didn't know exactly what the girl was pondering, she knew everyone around this part of the city had their particular tragic story, and she respected Lucy's privacy by not prying any further. With a yawn and a stretch, she began walking in the general direction of the door, the bottle hanging loosely from her hand. "By the way!" she called, though it wasn't very loud over the thrum of music and general hum of people in the vicinity, "I like Peanuts Lucy. She was my kind of bitch." That said, she held out a hand and beckoned for Lucy to follow, slipping out the door with a sly, innocent wink at the door-man she had "convinced" to let her in. He gave a sort of nervous smile and looked around, as if the manager would come right out and cuff him over the head.

The crisp, cool night air washed over her almost painfully as she stepped onto the icy cold sidewalk, her bare feet aching, but she reveled in the feeling of it piercing her lungs. Like clockwork, the haze that the vodka had settled over her brain seemed to lift slightly, and she closed her eyes, tilting her face upward toward the night sky. There were no visible stars, as the fluorescent city lights blinded them, but it was enough to know they were there. They seemed to anchor her in their ever-present way, and if anyone needed a little stability in their life, it was Soleil Reyes. She stood quietly, listening to the distant honk of car horns, the resolute beat of the club music muffled by the walls, the faint whisper of mingling people, the stir of the wind through the leaves of the lonely suburban landscaping trees, and sighed. Sol lifted the bottle and once more traced the lettering, this time with her eyes, then threw it across the road, where it landed on the opposite sidewalk with a satisfying crash. That taken care of, she dusted her hands off on her dress and leaned against the building, feeling the vibrations of the music shiver up and down her spine.

Soliel brought Lucy back into the present. She nodded before following the other towards the door. It was really something she needed to not think about right now. She was in a relatively good mood and thinking about her family was going to make her sad and down. "Oh, well she isn't for me," she nodded. On the way out she half stumbled over someone sitting on the floor. The alcohol was definitel starting to settle in now. IT never took long for drinks to circulate through her body. She was small and young anyway. Well, she did drink quite a bit of the bottle so it was no wonder she was stumbling around. Lucy regained some of her balance before carefully exiting the place.

The first thing she did was take a seat by the wall. She pretty much just collapsed ina criss cross form. She lay her head against the wal, closing her eye for a moment. Her whole body swarmed, still keeping her warm even if the night was cool. The floor was probably not the cleanest to sit on, considering it was near a hookah bar. She ddin't give a flying shit. Lucy could barely even stand so sitting was the best idea for her. She really didn't realize how much she had to drink. "It's very nice out tonight," she said with her eyes still closed. She didn't even feel like opening them at the moment.

ooc;; crap post!!!!
